• Can you assure me that staff will be discrete and my privacy will be maintained?

  We appreciate that privacy is very important for many of our clients. Operating our own surgical centre ‘in-house’, means that the only people who will know about your surgery are our own staff, who fully understand the requirement for confidentiality.

• Can procedures requiring an overnight stay be performed at the surgical centre?

  Providing you meet our day surgery centre criteria of health and fitness for anesthesia you may be suitable for surgery in our theatre followed by ambulance transfer to an appropriate post-operative care facility such as Auckland Surgical Centre (www.southerncross.co.nz).

• What can I expect on the day?

  You will be asked to arrive for admission to the surgery complex at a time that allows our staff to prepare you for surgery.

  Please read your pre-operative instructions carefully as they contain important imformation about preparing for your surgery.

  If sedation or general anaesthesia is planned you will meet the specialist doctor giving your anesthetic beforehand for a thorough discussion. You will have time to discuss any last minute concerns with our nursing staff and with your surgeon before your operation. After the surgery is complete you will wake up in our recovery room. Once you are more fully awake you should be able to sit up in a comfortable chair and have something to eat and drink. When your doctors and the nursing staff are happy that you are ready to be discharged a friend or family member can take you home. For patients who live out of town we can recommend and help pre-arrange hotel or motel accommodation nearby.

• Can I visit 234 Surgical Centre before I make a decision on having a procedure?

  Absolutely. We are more than happy to show you around to help you feel 100% comfortable and confident.
